
In patients with brain metastases, mistletoe therapy can lead to an increase in brain pressure. However, in the hands of an experienced therapist, treatment is possible.

Under the following conditions, mistletoe preparations may not be administered:
Particular caution is warranted if the patient has a brain tumour or brain metastases. In this case the mistletoe therapy can lead to an increase in brain pressure.
For Lektinol it is stated that the preparation should not be used by pregnant women or nursing mothers or by children under 12 years of age.
In cases of allergic reactions to mistletoe extracts or infections accompanied by high fever and inflammations, tuberculosis or hyperthyroidism, patients should refrain from undergoing mistletoe therapy.
